Leffingwell and McCracken face runoff June 13

It’s a Leffingwell vs. McCracken runoff. Leffingwell has 47 percent of the vote and Brewster McCracken is next with 27 percent. Carole Keeton Strayhorn is third with 21 percent. The race for mayor will be decided in a June 13 runoff election. The top two candidates, Leffingwell and McCracken advance to that runoff.

Even if McCracken could pick up all of Carole Strayhorn’s 21% vote it would be a dead heat with Leffingwell.  The only way McCracken can salvage this election is to do a total reboot and pick up the environmental faction lead by Max Nofziger on austinmayor.com and the changeaustin.org (reincarnation of stopdomainsubsidies.org) forces of Brian Rodgers and Linda Curtis.  McCracken currently is riding along a green message buoyed up by Michelle Greeer and the Austin social networking community.  He’ll need to dig way deeper in to this immense pool of twitter and facebook followers and enlist a core of heavy hitters like springnet, perrybelcher and others with mega follower bases in order to pull this out.

This will require a complete retooling by McCracken, who will need to have a second coming and become relevant to the Stop Domainers and environmental community, and expand his appeal to the green and tech communities.  It’s do-able but it’s going to require a super human effort between now and June 13.
